Aqua Group Restaurant’s latest über-cool hangout Tivo has officially opened its doors to Hong Kong on Wyndham Street, Central.
Inspired by the convivial and warm neighbourhood of Milan’s many trendy bars where suits blends seamlessly with fashionistas, Tivo is Hong Kong’s answer to those seeking the “i piaceri semplici nella vita,” the simple pleasures in life.
Designed to be “laid-back, warm and inviting”, Tivo offers an exclusive spot for pre-dinner aperitifs, casual drinks and friendly dinner parties with its chic and abstract interiors – a series of wood veneer pendant lights set against a backdrop of glowing back-lit “wine-shelves” and an oval centre piece bar with concave sides.
Open every weekday for lunch and dinner, Tivo is coined a dining bar rather than a bar per se. It specialises in light contemporary Italian cuisine including pizza and pasta using only the freshest produce and choice ingredients sourced by head chef, Dick Wong, formerly of Aqua Roma.
House specials include the Marinated octopus terrine $98 with capsicum, spinach, tomato, olive, feta cheese and squid ink sauce, Spinach tortellini $138 stuffed with fresh crab, celeriac, preserved lemon, tomato, herbs & lemon oil, Pan-fried wild Barramundi $168 with herbed risotto, spinach, fresh pea & mint oil, and Four flavour Swordfish $158 as its name suggests is served with 4 different sauces: fresh oyster emulsion, blood orange reduction, anchovy aioli, capsicum coulis. Dessert fiends will adore the Date and Apricot Pudding $68 served with cinnamon foam and ginger ice-cream.
As the sun sets, Tivo’s ambience soars drawing in late night owls looking to sip champagne and cocktails in a cool chilled-out setting. From Thursday to Saturday, the latest lounge music is played by some of Hong Kong’s best DJs.
Faithful to its Italian roots, Tivo offers guests complimentary canapés served fresh from the kitchen on grand and impressive candlelit trays throughout every evening.
Big on wine like its Italian cousin, Tivo serves fifteen whites and fifteen reds by the glass. Its extensive list of wines by the glass and bottle are chosen for their grape variety and styles sourced from both the New and Old World. Tivo also serves some of the most competitively priced Champagne in Central.
“Wyndham Street is fast becoming the happening extension of Soho” says creator and designer, David Yeo. “Tivo sophistically mixes a relaxed atmosphere and cool vibes with a trendy crowd and cutting edge food and drinks.”
Opened by the ultra-fashionable AQUA Restaurant Group, Tivo seats up to 32 for diner and 120 for standing cocktails, and is the new place to be seen at 43 Wyndham Street, Central.
