The ground floor of this house where Beethoven once lived is now home to a warm and welcoming, rustic dining room with a charming front-of-house team serving contemporary takes on regional fare. Made using top-quality ingredients, the food is pleasingly simple, refined and rich in flavour.
The landmarked house in Mariahilf, is one of the least preserved places, in which it is indeed certain that Ludwig van Beethoven lived in a courtyard apartment. Beethoven worked here among others on the Missa solemnis, on his 9th Symphony and on the Piano Sonata in C minor op. 111. For a long time this house housed a well-reputed restaurant called "Ludwig van". The bar was hewn into a former locksmith shop nearly 30 years ago and discovered by Oliver Jauk, cultural manager with a gastronomic past. The rooms are just too nice to not be re-recorded! With the Ludwig van he now realizes his idea of a modern Viennese inn.
A modern interpretation of Austrian cuisine, combined with the flavors of the world is our concern. However, we want to unfamiliar interpret large parts of their repertoire and compose some from scratch. This way, every evening we succeed in amusing our guests, pampering them and making them happy - always following the cornerstones of our cuisine: honesty, ability and passion as well as an uncompromising commitment to Austrian tradition and the highest quality.
