This simple, friendly restaurant in Vienna's 3rd district not far from Schloss Belvedere, the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Stadtpark serves an interesting mix of traditional and modern cuisine. Top-quality produce is transformed into pleasantly uncomplicated dishes such as fillet of salmon trout with creamy romaine lettuce and fried chicken with potato and lamb's lettuce salad. The owner is always happy to recommend his favourite wines.
The father and son run Seidl was previously a typical Viennese tavern mainly because of their passion for wine. What has convinced the well known of various top addresses Thomas Wohlfarter to hire here, we do not know. Some regret that he uses his talent at Wiener Schnitzel, Goulash & Co, others discover cautious innovations in the menu and are pleased: grilled Melanzani, artichokes with caper vinaigrette and nuts and fried salsiccia, crispy sea bass - you have never had such a fine meal here eaten. Even the intense chocolate-brown cheesecake brownie with deliciously fruity strawberry sauce clearly shows that a fresh wind is blowing here. And if you've tasted the butter-lard-scented schnitzel and the bacon-flavored potato salad, you quickly realize Wohlfarter's talent is not wasted here. We are curious to see where this journey will take us to.
